Health Risk in the Built Environment: A Framework for Building Resiliency During COVID-19 and Beyond
Thursday, July 30 at Noon EDT
Presenter: Michelle Ossmann, PhD, MSN, Assoc. AIA - Director, Knowledge & Insights - Healthcare, Herman Miller
Length: 1 hour
The design of corporate workspaces has never been so prescribed – until now. Finding new commonalities with healthcare design, the office setting is all at once a potential source of contagion and an irreplaceable source of in-person connection. The office, like the hospital before it, must move along with one significant change – an expanded boundary of risk. This presentation will trace the link between the built environment and health risk, and the associated challenges with shifting data. The discussion will then offer an ecological approach to designing for health risk mitigation and propose a novel framework for building worker resiliency by making sense of risk.
AIA and IDCEC certification pending.
